How we work
Each year, Circle de Luz partners with a local Charlotte-Mecklenburg middle school to welcome a small cohort of seventh-grade students. These students and their families receive hands-on mentorship, resources, and support throughout their six years in the program. Upon graduating from high school, each student is guaranteed a $5,000 scholarship to pursue further education.
What is a Mija?
A Mija is a special type of donor who contributes to the $5,000 scholarship we provide our students. Our Mijas join from all over the world and from diverse backgrounds. Men can become Mijas by donating in honor or memory of a woman in their lives. Additionally, families, Employee Resource Groups (ERGs), academic clubs, and organizations can also sign up to be Mijas.
Your Pledge
By committing to a minimum contribution of $125 per year over the course of six years, a Mija plays a critical role in helping our students turn their aspirations into reality. Our commitment in supporting our student’s pursuit of further education is made possible by our Mijas, and we hope to inspire you to become a Mija, too.
